We provide the Alaskan Experience of a Lifetime on Horseback. Alaska Horseback Guides offers guided Brooks and Alaska Range big game hunts in August and September.
The clients fly commercial airlines into Fairbanks, Alaska where a charter bush plane flight can be scheduled to transport the hunters to our base camp in the Brooks Range. At the base camp you will team up with a guide and horse and off you go!
Whether we hunt from base camp or a more remote spike camp depends on where the Moose, Dall Sheep, Grizzly Bear, Caribou or Wolves happen to be, as there is as you know an almost constant movement of animals in the wild.
The Brooks Range has an abundance of wildlife and in addition to the big game animal or animals you may be in pursuit of, there are many opportunities to view such animals (critters) as Ptarmigan birds which are starting to change into their beautiful winter white, Red Fox, Cross Fox, Weasel, Grouse, Snowshoe Hare and maybe even a quick peek a the elusive and shy Lynx and Wolverine. The streams have many Grayling which are quite easy to catch. Lake Trout, Grayling, Whitefish and Northern Pike inhabit the local lakes.
Your personal gear including rain gear, sleeping bag and hip waders and of course your firearm is all you need to bring. All meals and snacks are provided and the way your guide puts away food you may find yourself wondering if he is related to the horse you are riding.
